Regolo Ricci is a Canadian artist who works primarily in oils and watercolours and whose paintings are in collections throughout the world. At an early age he approached Emerich Kaspar--best known for his purchases of the Group of Seven-- and exhibited with the Kaspar Gallery in Toronto's Yorkville. He is completely self-taught having left the University of Toronto where he studied English Literature and the Classics. As well as painting he has illustrated 11 books and was nominated for the Governor General's Award in 2000. He is best known for his portrayals of the landscape of Southern Ontario, with an emphasis on the areas North and West of Toronto and along the Niagara Escarpment. He began documenting the disappearing rural Ontario as far back as 1980 and still explores the villages and towns around the Metropolitan area. Along with landscape his other main interest is in still-life.

In his work he attempts to combine a profound reverence for the old masters with a strong desire to explore the complexities, confusions, and contradictions of the modern world. There is beauty in everything. Some of his paintings may be seen at the Dunn Street Gallery in Oakville, Ontario.
